North Lavant
The North Lavant Community Centre (NLCC) serves the far northwest corner of Lanark Highlands, providing social activities, and Emergency Shelter for the communities of Flower Station, Clyde Forks, and surrounding areas.
The NLCC refers to itself as "The Heart of the Highlands" for both our abundance of lakes, forests and hills, and our sense of community. Our main attractions are: Blueberry Mountain - One of the Seven Wonders of Lanark County which is 1250 acres of pristine wilderness that attracts over 2000 visitors annually; The K&P Trail - The K&P is a year round multi-use recreation trail that links up to the Trans Canada trail network.
Our recurring activities include: St. Patrick's Day Dinner, Harvest Dinner, Christmas Dinner, Euchre every second week throughout the year, Summer BBQ's and Markets, and Fall Colour BBQ and Market.
This area has seen a dramatic rise of cottages being converted into year round homes, and many retirees or near retirees taking up permanent residence. To help our residents better understand "The Beauty We Call Home", we have introduced a monthly Luncheon and Talk, titled "The Land We Live On". Each month a local expert will discuss a different aspect of life in the Highlands. Topics include; Wildlife Tracks and Signs, Blueberry Mountain, Ornithology, Geology, Forestry, Watershed, Music, History, Mapping...and more.
We welcome anyone from the Lanark Highlands to attend our events. If you would like to be included on our list for notification of upcoming events, please email us!
